Ubiquitous Sunday Post

Posted on Sunday, October 3, 2004 in ubiquitous posts

the weekend is coming to an end and i’m once again in the transitional period (savoring the last moments of a work-free day and realizing that it’s the end and tomorrow i have to be up at 5:45am again).

friday night we had dinner at a small cafe called Cucina Esperanza in Ballard. although a little pricey, their regional Mexican food is excellent and made by the owner/chef. afterwards, we walked next door to Fiore where our favorite barista Kim treated us to a couple of Americanos and some good conversation. it is moments like these that i can’t imagine living anywhere else.

saturday morning, we rose very early and took the dogs to dog disneyworld (i.e. Marymoor) where they romped and played fervently for a solid hour. by the time we headed home they were exhausted and the car needed a deep cleaning. we have been talking for quite some time about a second vehicle for Mark (preferably a truck) and decided to stop by Carter on the way back. about 2 hours later, we walked off the lot as the brand new owners of a Nissan Pathfinder. just like that. it’s nice to have a second car and it had pretty much everything Mark wanted. so now the Golf can stay the ‘clean’ car while the Pathfinder can now serve as the dog taxi/work transportation/camping-hiking truck.

that evening, we had a lovely (and filling) dinner at the Kingfish Cafe (host to some of the most beautiful waitresses i’ve seen). starting with fried green tomatoes fluffy hush puppies, to buttermilk fried chicken and spicy collard greens to the subtly delicious sweet potato pecan pie sided with fresh cream and strawberries. i don’t even like pie and i still ate enough to make my stomach hurt!

and today we were up again at the crack of dawn to take the dogs to dog disneyland (Magnuson). i have to say Primo quite enjoyed the Pathfinder’s spacious back area and being so high up. after dropping the tired dogs home, we picked the Heffs up for breakfast and conversation, their treat for our anniversary. our favorite people to spend a weekend morning with. my sister has finally returned from her seven week stint in Ecuador and it’s nice to have her back.

all in all an eventful and relaxing weekend. now back to Sunday night lounging!
