The Really, Real World

Posted on Saturday, January 15, 2005 in thoughts

i am a fairly regular reader of Alex The Girl and her myriad of sites for quite some time now. there are a few photos of her on her site, and combined with her writing i hadn’t realized that i had enough information to recognize her in the real world. the first time had been at an in-studio at KEXP for the band AIr. she had looked familiar, but i couldn’t quite place her. it wasn’t until as i was leaving and heard her address Chris with an accent that i realized who she was.

and since that time, i have seen her a couple times downtown walking near where i often park when i need to run errands in that area (Pacific Place). i’ve often thought about saying hello, but never have. and now she’s moved to California where people are recognizing her, but thinking she’s someone else. well, Alex, take comfort in knowing that despite what you may think people noticed you in Seattle for just who you are :) (not for ‘lack of black or flannel’. although they might have been staring because you had the sense to wear a proper coat with a dress instead of a North Face raincoat) congratulations and good luck on the new adventure!
