Marsha, Marsha, Marsha
er, i meant Beta, Beta, Beta! i know i’m master of the obvious to some, more tech dedicated. but here is the short list of new web apps i’ve been trying out.
Kinja: a nice app that turns your favorite weblogs into a daily digest along with added content from Kinja editors. it’s a nice alternative to RSS which can be hard to read. i like RSS readers, but at the same time all of the text starts to look the same. it seems like a nod to LiveJournal’s notion of Friends pages (which i do love) but with a little more oomph. i’m looking forward to seeing more improvements to the interface in the future!
then there’s Flickr which basically seems like a moblog for sharing, organizing and commenting on people’s lives in pictures. it’s pretty basic at this point. i’ve played with it a bit, but am not convinced it is worth managing another spot on the web.
do i even have to mention the whole Gmail storm? (incidentally, i still have 2 invitations if anyone wants them).
okay, Dropload isn’t really a beta, but it’s a very cool little utility that allows you to drop off files for friends to pick up later. all files are automatically deleted from the server after four hours.
if you really need to be the early adopter, then BetaNews might be for you. beware this is mostly Windows stuff.

I’m a Kinja user, and it can be pretty useful. I like the interface, and I enjoy being able to post my kinja list on my blog. However, every so often there will be a glitch and things will either stop updating, or you will only get updates from one blog. They are definitely still working stuff out.

I want a gmail account very, very badly. Brian and Heather will tell you I am deserving.

Well, Luke is Robert Matheu’s punk rock hero. Plus he coined the term “assrot” and is the one who added the phrase “What’s Crappenin’” to my vocabulary. So I suppose he deserves a Gmail invite…
