listening to The Cure Join The Dots: B-Sides & Rarities 1978 > 2001 from the Fiction years. Not to be confused with the Universal-HP-selling years. i shouldn’t be like that, they really didn’t have any control over that. there are about 70 songs on 4 discs, all of them are remastered. b-sides and re-mixes. i’m listening to Halo right now and it sounds pretty dang good. i’m not a huge fan of the cover of Purple Haze but i do love A Foolish Arrangement. it’s my favorite song to play over and over on my bass. i’m being scolded by Mark right now for not listening to the discs in order (he’s such a purist). remember Rob Gordon in High Fidelity organizing his albums? that’s Mark. i swear.

anyway, this boxset is definitely better than the way he went about it. collecting all of these songs one by one is much more expensive. and so far, it sounds really nice!

p.s. it’s only $39.99 at Best Buy, but spend a few extra bucks and support an independent record store will you?

  1. lately i’ve been hearing lots of the cure on the radio, and it makes me remember how much i love them. hearing robert smith do his “do do do…” in songs makes me a happy happy girl.

and i hear you about supporting our local independent music stores. they rock, i don’t mind giving them my money.
