i don’t much feel ….
…. like spending time in the sun. in a city that worships the summer as if once it’s gone, they face the sentence that is fall and winter. it is rumored that there is a high rate of suicide here (i have never made an effort to validate that statement), but i attribute it more to poor planning. if you knew that a certain place had loads of grey days in the wintertime, why would you move there? people tend to pack as much activity and well thought out memorable moments into the three months that are june, july and august. i have even spoken with people who say that they have light therapy in the winter months by sitting next to a bright light for a specific length of time. i made the mistake of asking whether they begin to grow towards the light.
the days have been very blue and golden with throngs of people crowding the open air markets and boats floating on the bathtub that is lake union. it is nice to dine al fresco. it is nice to sip a cup of coffee on the sidewalk while observing the bus travelers and half reading a book. it is nice to hike in the sunshine. methinks just like everything else, it wears on one after awhile. i have also been inspired by the fall and winter months.
autumn is my favorite time of the year. winter is nice as well. i enjoy the sunshine the most in the midst of winter, when the air is cold and the peaks of the mountains are sharp.
