Feeling Trekkie
i’ve just gotten back from reading the latest post on little. yellow. different, which i find sidesplittingly funny. most notably his comments on an engineer he works with.
The engineer is, naturally, a Trekkie. Of course he’s a Trekkie - not one of those ironic Trekkies, either, but the ones that will erase half of his notes on his cubicle white board and explain to you exactly why a freak occurance in the time warp continuum could have thecrew of the Enterprise on Dagobah With illustrations.
i haven’t worked with an engineering team in over a year now and this made me miss it. i once had my whiteboard wiped clean of a UI workflow design only to be replaced with a diagram of a large pizza and i believe what was intended to be a family crest. i’m not sure how many rounds of possible Halloween costumes i sat through, where ideas like “i’m coming as a function” or “i’ll be the profile object” are tossed out. i’m not kidding. the worst part was that by the end of my time at Company X i actually thought these jokes were funny (aren’t they just a little?). too much time spent with C++ engineers. i was once told that i was not nerdy enough to code C++ and now i think, perhaps there is some truth in that.
and now, does this go in techcentric or thoughts?
