Closing Out The Year
This year has been heavy to say the least. Three out of four of our parents spent time in the hospital this year. Two of them are now free of a pesky gall bladder. Friends became pregnant and so far one has welcomed a sparkly little baby girl. And even in the online world, you can still worry about friends and think good thoughts for them.
I’ve been drunk dialed from across the globe. And while I failed at writing letters, I did manage to chip away at being more creative all the time. I bought an SLR and took a photography class with my sister which in turn helped me provide photos for my first show review not on this site.
Through one of the most successful online communities, I heard from friends from the distant and not so distant past.
There have been milestones this year for sure.
I can only wonder what might be in store for 2006. Certainly there are surprises to come but not all will be unexpected.
The biggest personal milestone may be a decision to enter my information into the adoption registry for the agency I was connected to my parents through. The phrase “be careful what you wish for” comes to mind. Along with entering the registry, I will be requesting my files and an evaluation for a birth parent search. Don’t get too excited. Because of the circumstances (foreign birth, etc.) only a small percentage of children from this program actually find their parents. I believe the number is somewhere around 15%. It’s a small number for sure. It’s hard to know what’s more frightening, being part of the 85% or the 15%.
The site will be down in the month of January. Hope your holidays are full of friends, family, good food and memories.
