Back To New Normal

Remember that one time I ventured out in public in sweatpants? It was just once to the grocery store at ten o’clock at night, I swear! I’m here to report that will not be happening again (at least I don’t think). As work beckons next week, I’m working on getting back in to the swing of things stylewise. And, if you must know, I’ve fallen in love with a new pair of shoes. Materialistic? Yes. Consumeristic? Yes. Extravagant? Yes. I can’t help it. While I convince the husband that we need to simplify and pare down our … well, stuff … I keep finding other stuff. It’s a curse that I’m not proud of.

About these shoes. Black Chanel Cambon Ballet Flats. They would shame all of my other shoes (except maybe the Stuart Weitzman spike heels and my unwedded, Zanotti wedding shoes). If we’re lucky, they’ll be gone when I see them again before I do something rash!

See, sometimes I am just a silly girl.

Or maybe this is just a distraction from stress and anxiety of returning to work and leaving the boy in daycare. Because even though I know it will be fine, it doesn’t make it any less difficult. I’ve always known that financially, staying at home is not an option for us and yet somehow I feel unprepared. And I do think daycare is a good thing, especially as we have a really good situation and great caregivers. The boy loves to be around other babies, to see new things and interact with new people. Still, at the end of the day, I’m just going to miss him so much.
