Accidental Warhol & More
despite being ill for the better part of last week, i managed to recover (and finally pinpoint the source of my symptoms) in time for a trip we had planned to Vancouver to celebrate Heff’s birthday. Vancouver is such a sparkling, beautiful city and i had realized we had never actually visited during the summer. we always manage to go during the off season when there are considerably less (ahem) tourists. so we were all looking forward to enjoying the city in fair weather. and the weather was beautiful and in the mid 80s which allowed for the first swimming venture of the season.
while there my sister suggested we hit the Vancouver Art Gallery to view the visiting Andy Warhol exhibit featuring prints and drawings from the Warhol Museum. i am admittedly not a huge fan of his screen prints but i do really enjoy his early ink and watercolor illustrations from the 50s. and as a nice surprise, i found that select reports from Learning To Love You More were also being displayed. if you didn’t already know, is an experiment in collaborative creativity whereas assignments are posted, you accept an assignment and send in a report of your completed project. the result is a fascinating array of viewpoints. i was definitely glad we had spent some time in the gallery (and air conditioning!).
the weekend was far too sort, but was just the thing we needed to break up the some time monotony of everyday life!
