A Package Came Today

Posted on Wednesday, March 2, 2005 in thoughts

remember awhile back when i said that my mom had a certain strategy to gift giving (specifically Christmas gifts)? today i opened a package with the following contents:

  • pajamas (my mom buys them for me every year for Christmas. for whatever reason she forgot this year and decided that she still had to send a pair to make up for it.
  • 2 games: Disney Trivial Pursuit and a pop culture Trivial Pursuit (that looks pretty old).
  • 3 records: Sesame Street’s Monsters with such tracks as ‘Be Kind To Your Neighborhood Monsters’, ‘Fur’ (sung by ‘A Maroon-and-Yellow Monster’) and ‘I, Grover’. Shaun Cassidy’s Born Late which I don’t remember listening to or getting. I barely remember who he is. K-Tel’s Looney Tunes (as advertised on TV) with such hits as ‘They’re Coming To Take Me Away’, ‘I Love Onions’ and ‘The Witch Doctor’.
  • 8 DVDs: Resident Evil, Queen of the Damned, Lock, Stock and 2 Smoking Barrels, The Changeling, Cold Mountain, The Butterfly Effect, 28 Days Later and Divine Secrets of the Ya-Ya Sisterhood.

it’s the perfect mix of my mother’s thinking. some sentimental (kid records), some of what she knows i love (horror flicks) and some randomness (Trivial Pursuit). it’s just so … well, MaryAnn. thanks mom! i love to get packages of stuff.
