A Little Spot In The Sun
{warning: this post is nest-y}
it’s been about a month and a half since we moved in to the house and i have to say things are coming along quite nicely. prior to moving we had purged most all of our useless Ikea furniture in an effort to force ourselves to replace it. our couch didn’t fit (incidentally, let me know if you are looking for a couch) and after about two weeks the lack of furniture was already wearing thin on our nerves. we purchased a mission style dining room table for a great price at the Bon Macy’s Outlet Store and ordered a new couch from Crate and Barrel. although there are lovely little boutique stores i would have loved to buy from, it’s just unrealistic based on our current budget. the couch is a sectional (but not in a 80s puffy way) and will fit nicely with the current deep red fireplace wall.
and today, we bought chairs for the dining room table (mission style to match, but slightly different) and paint chips for the bedrooms and bathroom. instead of buying small cans of sample paint and testing it, we were able to purchase 18 x 24paint chips for a mere $5.00 a piece. it was much nicer and very convenient to try on different colors. i think we’ve settled on two different shades of pale, cool blue for the bedroom, a shade of lavender for the bathroom and an olive-taupe type color for the spare bedroom. the living room remains a mystery. i said before, i’m not good at this. and lastly, we hit the newly moved Camelion Design in Ballard to browse for a chair for the living room. the search went well and we may actually splurge on a custom ordered piece.
and now i’m sitting here in the corner of the kitchen enjoying the dogs racing around the yard at play. there is a corner windowed area that has a nice view of the yard that we eventually planned on putting a little cafe table at. but in the meantime, an inexpensive folding table and chair has made it a temporary office for me. aah, the beauty of wi-fi. until next time … au revoir.

my only advice on Ikea is be wary of anything too large. bigger furniture for them usually doesn’t work well. they do have lots of cute little seasonal stuff!
