the Federal Marriage Amendment has been struck down in the Senate today. although this issue continues to be a way to rouse the conservative voters into action, today all that mattered was the outcome. in other news, John McCain is my favorite Republican.
“The constitutional amendment we are debating today strikes me as antithetical in every way to the core philosophy of Republicans,” said Senator John McCain, Republican of Arizona. “It usurps from the states a fundamental authority they have always possessed, and imposes a federal remedy for a problem that most states do not believe confronts them.”
incidentally, my favorite Democrat is Rep. Jim McDermott.

i have a crush on mcCain. it started when i made out with a very cute southern boy who had an honest to goodness accent who loved him, and it’s been supported over the past few months. he’s such a reasonable man, that i can still respect him (even if sometimes i disagree with him).
