Boring House Stuff And Plastic Teeth

warning: boring house stuff ahead.

when we bought our house, we knew that we would need to replace the roof sooner rather than later. we also knew that it would be a little pricey as there are already three layers on the roof that need to be removed. and with perfect timing, we need to [...]

Big In Japan

taking the time out of my oh-so busy day to report that Tom Waits has scheduled a single, lonely little tour date this year. guess where? yes, that’s right. the single date is October 18th at the Paramount Theatre here in lovely Seattle! i can hardly wait, although i am less than enthused with the [...]

Feeling Much Better, Thank You

after a visit to the doctor on Friday, i left the office armed with a brown bag of goodies (i.e. free antibiotics and Nasonex). i was a little leery about the antibiotics, having had two severe allergic reactions from different medications prior. but so far, so good. i’m already feeling a bit better. not back [...]

Cold September

September is cold. it’s been raining most of the day and that means lots of muddy paws to wipe. i myself and anxiously awaiting Shocktober. i am dreaming about a very nice set of teeth and some creepy blue eyes.
i learned today from K8 that the kittens didn’t survive and it put a damper on [...]

The Long Visit

in the home stretch from a long journey back from midwest. it would be an understatement to say that we are exhausted, not just from the traveling but from the excitement and events. from the day we arrived there has been nonstop movement, from surprise wedding receptions to family dinners to spending time with friends [...]

Bush

i saw/heard George W on the news giving a speech that said “we will not leave Iraq until our mission is accomplished …” and i’m thinking, okay, you have speech writers. LOTS of speech writers and not one of them said, “uh, excuse me sir, but …. no, put down the LeapPad. umm, do you [...]

Holy Catacombs

the catacombs that lie beneath Paris are fascinating to me. i’d always wanted to visit. and apparently, i’m not the only one.
Police in Paris have discovered a fully equipped cinema-cum-restaurant in a large and previously uncharted cavern underneath the capital’s chic 16th arrondissement.
apparently, the area had been professionally electrically wired to power system. intrigued?

Seattle Bumperstickers

the winner of ‘the funniest political bumpersticker i’ve seen this week’ is:

close runners up:
“I wasn’t using my civil rights anyway.”
“Lick Bush and his Dick in 2004″
“Somewhere in Texas, a village is missing their idiot”
“Bush on Mars 2004″

Nesting

This weekend, I vowed to finish at least two projects around the house. Yesterday afternoon, we picked up paint for the bathroom in Lyndhurst Timber (one of the National Trust paints from American Traditions). I removed all of the bamboo (yes, that’s right bamboo!), cleaned and taped the walls. Now that I think of it, [...]

Traveling In Style

the trip back to the midwest is looming closer and closer. there will be lots of driving, hugging and catching up. for that reason, we are taking it easy this Labor Day and not hitting Bumbershoot this year. instead i’m prepping my PB for the trip and thinking about any other little luxuries that might [...]

Sometimes I’m Dreaming

last night we ventured up through the I-5 traffic to the brand new Everett Events Center to see The Cure. the complex is an ice rink, home to Everett’s WHL team newly built just last year. at the entrance we were frisked (Brianna had to run back to the car because they wouldn’t let her [...]
